Today we went out for a ride to shake off the cabin fever. One of the places we like to go is Wickford RI which is on the bay and is a thriving artist community. This is Steve's favorite shot of the day.

The clouds were just clearing up so it gave them good texture and there was zero wind so the water was like glass. ...the perfect photography situation.

To all our followers,
Have a Great Holiday Season.
From Alissa and Steve
At Coolwater Studios

A recent glamour session we shot with a before and after comparison of what we can do.
We would like to do more work in this area so if you know anyone who would be interested, please pass our information along. We'll post more examples shortly.
Some of the things done: darkened hair, smoothed skin, narrowed face, changed eye color, tanned skin.

It's been a few days since our last blog. Getting ready for the holidays and attending holiday events seems to consume our time more than usual.
Speaking of holiday events... We recently attended a school holiday pagent and Alissa took a picture of this young lady who was playing Mother Mary. Steve loved the shot and couldn't resist helping it out in Photoshop. (Publish permission granted by parents)
Things that were done: Replaced background and candle, worked on facial features and skin, added glow to her dress, changed the color of the head cover.

Here is the link to our gallery that has the full size image.

Sometimes you set out to get that perfect photograph and you come home with something totally different.  I correct myself. Most of the time.

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition. Carl Sagan
As applied to photography... When you have decided to become a photographer, you realize that the world does not offer up those great shots at your convenience. You have to study the subject and the environment it is in ...and then have patience and attention to capture the moment. If you are not willing to do this, you will get those great shots only by luck.

An image from our photo safari to Plymouth Plantation.
Steve has been to Plymouth several times but never saw the path leading to this beautiful place. It was a wonderful gem to find and a lot of place along the path to take pictures.

A stone bridge in Roger Williams Park this Fall. I did some artistic rendering on it. You can see it if you zoom in on it. Depending on the level of rendering, it can bring out details better to making it look like an oil painting.

One of our shots from Roger Williams Zoo this fall. Take a look at those lashes.

La Salette Shrine

Went to La Salette shrine last night to capture some Christmas lights. La Salette is known for it's Christmas lighting however we found it a bit over the top. Not a lot of unique shots so we made the best of it by experementing with shutter drag with zoom effect.

Craig Tracy - photography

When we visited New Orleans, we had the chance to visit one of my favorite photographers. He is actually a body painter and knows how to translate his work well into the photography medium. Check out his work at www.craigtracy.com.

Find copyright infractions ...and stolen cameras.

Hey all you fellow photographers. Have you ever wondered if your art/photos have been stolen and used on the Internet? Here is a site to check out. I haven't tried it yet but give it a try and let us know what you find. This could be one of the best thing for professional photographers since the digital camera. http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/

Micro Rose from mom

This is the rose Alissa's mom gave her the other day. Just for you Barb....

Steve found a new site to show pictures on

Steve was looking around for new marketing channels and found www.fineartamerica.com . He signed up and posted his information and a few initial favorites to test the waters. While on the site he found his brother Ken Eis is on it already. Now he has to get Alissa on it too.

Welcome to our blog

This our first blog entry for Coolwaterstudios.

We did our second art showing this past Friday. It was at St. Luke's school in Bristol RI.
Setup was much easier since having been through it once already. We continue to learn and refine our display and we hope it will be even better next time.
Some specific areas we need to address is how to make sure the pictures hang level and get the sign to look better. See our display here...
We didn't sell much but there was a lot of interest and admiring passers-by. We did however, get some leads for a high-end consignment job and a couple of wedding possibilities.
Our next show is this December 4th. Details are posted on our web site www.coolwaterstudios.com
